Rick Sanchez Rivals Rush Limbaugh's Donovan McNabb Comments
CNN wasted little time in firing Rick Sanchez yesterday, who disgraced the network with his comments regarding Jews. Sanchez was canned for not what he said about Jon Stewart (calling him a bigot) but suggesting that Jews run CNN and all the other networks.
Sanchez, the host of "Rick's List" did an interview on the satellite radio show "Stand Up! With Pete Dominick" on Thursday when he made the comments. Sanchez remarked that Jon Stewart was prejudiced against those who disagree with his "white liberal establishment point of view" and scoffed at the notion that Jews were "an oppressed minority."
Once I heard about Sanchez's idiotic remarks it harkened back to a time in 2003 when Rush Limbaugh was working on ESPN's Sunday Morning NFL Countdown show. At the time, Donovan McNabb was off to the worst start of his career. When they brought up Donovan McNabb's name, Limbaugh said it was important for the media that a black quarterback succeed."I don't think he's been that good from from the get-go. I think what we have here is a little social concern in the NFL. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well."
ESPN forced Limbaugh to resign just a few days later.
Just when you think that a major media personality can't top another in the stupidity category; they do. Dr. Laura Schlessinger disgraced herself a few months ago with an N-word laden rant, but if you look at the context of it - it isn't nearly as offensive as Rick Sanchez's remarks.
We have here a case of another personality who couldn't exercise restraint and allowed their true colors to shine through.
Maybe Fox News will hire Rick Sanchez now that he's out of a job. He'd fit right in.
