Will Conan O'Brien's 11 P.M. Start Time Help or Hurt His TBS Show?

Conan O'Brien will make his long-awaited return to the TV airwaves tonight on TBS. "Conan" will air at 11 P.M. giving him a half-hour headstart against his nemesis Jay Leno.

Much discussion has been made of the 11 P.M. start time. One has to wonder if this will help him or hurt him? It certainly won't hurt him in terms of drawing in his existing fans.

Team Coco will watch him whether he's on at 11:00, 11:30, or even midnight. Heck, they could put him on at 2:00 P.M. and his fans (including myself) will watch. That's the beauty of DVR these days.

However, it may hurt Conan's ability to draw in new fans - due to the fact that's he competing with local news broadcasts. Does this mean his show won't succeed? Absolutely not. Conan O'Brien will immediately have his loyal fanbase and in due time his ratings will grow, but perhaps not to the extent they could if the show was on at 11:30 P.M. Don't discount the local news factor, many folks love their local news.

For Conan's debut show he will have on Seth Rogen and Glee's Lea Michele.
