water cooler logoOver the past week President Obama and Dr. Laura Schlessinger have been all over the headlines for their words.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger, who just announced she's quitting her show, made the headlines for dropping the n-word on her show 11 times in the matter of a few minutes. Rightfully so, she was forced off the airwaves.philly cop killers article ad

President Obama is facing a firestorm of criticism for defending the rights of Muslims to build a cultural center near Ground Zero. Unfortunately many Americans are misinformed about this cultural center. Due to the propaganda assault from right-wing extremists like Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh, millions of Americans are confused about the entire situation. They are led to believe a mosque is being built right on top of Ground Zero, which couldn't be further from the truth.

According to a Time magazine poll, 61% of Americans oppose the construction of the Park 51 Project. What's interesting about Time's survey is it revealed some other sad facts about Americans:

Yet the survey also revealed that many Americans harbor lingering animosity toward Muslims. Twenty-eight percent of voters do not believe Muslims should be eligible to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court.

The United States of America is founded on something called religious freedom. Added to that, a mosque is not being built. It is a cultural center. As Keith Olbermann eloquently pointed out in his special comment the other night on his show Countdown - "there is no ground zero mosque."

This is such a hot-button issue that it has stirred up people on the left such as Howard Dean - who debated the issue with Keith Olbermann on Countdown.

If Americans want to be outraged over anything, it should be over Dr. Laura Schlessinger's racially charged tirade. And, Americans should be appalled that a broadcaster in her position would be willing to flush her career down the toilet in such a foolish manner. Dr. Laura, who disgraced herself had Sarah Palin come to her defense. However, when Obama defends religious freedom that apparently is a bad thing according to Palin. Palin looks like a complete hypocrite at this point.

President Obama is being taken to task for merely defending a religious groups' constitutional rights.

Then again, these are the same Republicans and Tea Partiers who would probably find a way to run him up the flagpole if he were opposed to it.
