Caroline Giuliani is just a privileged child crying out for attention

water cooler logoCaroline Giuliani, the daughter of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, was arrested on shoplifting charges yesterday in a Manhattan department store.

I know what you're thinking, and I am too. Kind of pathetic.

A Harvard student getting arrested on petty theft is something right out of a bad TV drama. Only problem is, it's real life. Moreover, it's pretty obvious that Giuliani is really trying to get attention, or is venting out at somebody for some deep-rooted issues. It's no secret that her father has had some martial issues (he's been married three times), which has reportedly distanced his relationship with his daughter.

I am lucky enough to have both of my parents still together. However, some of my friends' parents have not been so lucky over the years.Caroline Giuliani with her father Rudy Giuliani and her brother. Photo: www.cbsnews.com We've all had problems and people handle them in different ways, but I can tell you this: not ONE of them coped with their issues by shoplifting items out of a department store.

If this is a feeble attempt from Caroline Giuliani to draw the ire of her father, it wouldn't be the first time. The younger Giuliani joined Barack Obama's Facebook page while Obama was campaigning for the presidency in 2008. Oh yeah, it was the same time her father (a Republican) was seeking his bid for the respective nomination of his party for the presidency. Yeah. Daddy issues much?

I am not in her shoes, but either way Caroline Giuliani will not get any sympathy from me. It's about time you confronted whomever you have your issues with, and get it together. Because chances are nobody else is going to feel sorry for you, either. People have come from broken homes to rise above adversity to make a decent life for themselves. You have no excuse.

Let's hope she can get this legal matter straightened out quickly. Harvard's classes start in a few weeks.........
