Pat Robertson's Alzheimer's Divorce Comment: Just His Latest Idiotic Rant

Religious zealot, grandstander, so-called broadcaster,  and whackjob Pat Robertson is back at it again with his comments on Alzheimer's disease. Robertson told his 700 Club goons on his radio show that it's ok to divorce your wife if she has Alzheimers disease.

"I know it sounds cruel, but if he's going to do something, he should divorce her and start all over again, but make sure she has custodial care and somebody looking after her," Robertson said.

Robertson is like the Elvis Presley of incendiary remarks, pumping out foolish gaffes like #1 hits.  Here's a brief run-down of some of the insane things this old coot has said over the years

- "I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you, This is not a message of hate -- this is a message of redemption. But a condition like this will bring about the destruction of your nation. It'll bring about terrorist bombs; it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor." –Pat Robertson, on "gay days" at Disneyworld

-"Maybe we need a very small nuke thrown off on Foggy Bottom to shake things up" –Pat Robertson, on nuking the State Department

-(T)he feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."

- Let's not forget in 2010 - Robertson remarked that the earthquake in Haiti was the result of God's punishment. "It may be a blessing in disguise. ... Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. Haitians were originally under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we will serve you if you will get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it's a deal. Ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other."

When you compare this to some of the other offensive, nasty remarks he has made over the years it's about a "6" on the Pat Robertson offensive scale.

His statement isn't an indictment on Christianity as some people believe.  Any self-respecting Christian with any common sense would never utter such things in a public forum.

At the end of the day - we shouldn't get in too much of an uproar over it. Consider the source. Also, Robertson preaches to a bottom-feeding demographic and has zero credibility.
