The Morning After - Eagles beat Bears

"Bookmark

The Morning AfterMorning campers,

Before we get to the game last night, I want to wish everyone on behalf of all us at Philly2Philly.com a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.

Here’s something to be thankful for, too… Green Fans the Movie. Watch through the eyes of two hardcore fans as they capture the insanity of two NFGreen Fans the MovieL seasons. Travel with thousands of fans from game to game and get to know the die-hards such as Super Eagle, Cheesesteak Head, The Green Legion and many more.

Yes this is very much a cliché, but this is truly a GREAT gift for any Eagles fan on your list. Click here for more info…

Now, as for what transpired between the lines… kind of went with a timeline kind of theme, you’ll see what I mean…

OPENING DRIVE…
Nothing if not consistent, a possession in the Red Zone leads to three points. On the plus side Michael Vick made his earliest appearance of the year and proceeded to go on a long run on a 3rd and short call. Altogether now…. Where has that been all freaking year?!?!?

ON SECOND THOUGHT…
Hey, the Eagles CAN score in the Red Zone without failing 5 times first. Who knew?

YOU’RE (NOT) IN GOOD HANDS…
Don’t think Quintin Mikell will be working for Allstate anytime soon… does he drop an interception every week or does it just seem that way? And this one wouldBill LaimbeerJay Cutler have been 6 for sure.

BAD BOYS, BAD BOYS, WHAT CHA GONNA DO?...
Is it me or does Jay Cutler bear an uncanny resemblance to Bill Laimbeer?

CAPTAIN OBVIOUS…
Following DeSean Jackson’s fumble toward the end of the first half, I threw out this not so brilliant observation: Both of these teams stink.

GOODBYE MATE…
A 16-yard punt? Are you kidding me? Enough is enough is enough. The time has come to send Sav Rocca down under… literally.

CRIS COLLINSWORTH AKA KRESKIN?
Not a huge fan of C Squared but have to give the man props. A second, yes a second, before DeSean Jackson caught a long TD in the 3rd Quarter, Collinsworth pondered aloud “the Eagles need to find ways to get DeSean Jackson the ball.”

ENSUING KICKOFF…
What’s the most important inning in baseball? Easy. The inning AFTER your team scores a run(s). It’s imperative to keep momentum going. In football, same thing. The most important drive for your defense is the drive right after your offense scores.

Well right after DeSean put he Eagles ahead 17-12, the Eagles Special Teams kick coverage (again) failed, allowing a long return. And the Eagles Defense? Well all they did was allow the Bears to come right back to take the lead 20-17. And what do you know, an opposing TE made another big play on the Eagles Defense. Again, go figure.

That my friends is the sign of a very mediocre team.Apple turnover

THE HOLIDAYS… THE TIME FOR TURNOVERS
Apple’s good. I love cherry myself. But Lord almighty are you kidding me? Hold onto the damn ball. And run away from Charles Tillman while you’re at it.

A BLOCKWORK ORANGE…
Did I just see the Eagles block a field goal? Why yes Virginia, you did.

IT’S D-LIGHTFUL…
Five a half-minutes left. Eagles just took the lead to go up 4. It’s time for the D to step up. Let’s watch…

Ok, they hold, thanks in part to a False Start Penalty and Cutler’s inability to hit a wide open receiver

NOW THAT’S OFFENSIVE…
Eagles Offense, 3 and half minutes get the ball and a chance to end this… Let’s watch… Oh yeah, it’s only a 4 point game and we all know the Eagles record in games decided by 7 points or less.Goldilocks  Oh yeah, and Devin Hester's pants pulled down as well.....

THIS LITTLE BEAR GOT THE BALL BACK…
Eagles offense gets one first down, can’t get two. Bears get the ball back with less than two minutes to play and no timeouts. (And yes, that is a pictire of Goldilocks. Ok, maybe not THEE Goldilocks but...)

KEEPING UP WITH THE JONES’…
Just a matter of time… Jay throws into heavy coverage and Sean Jones says ‘thank you very much.’

Ball game.

Til next time.

Time’s yours. Food’s mine.
