Frank LeMaster Previews the Eagles vs. Cowboys

Eagles Fly High In Win Over The Giants

As the Eagles fight song goes “Fly Eagles Fly”, so did the Birds during their 40-17 thrashing over the New York Giants last Sunday. It was Former Eagles linebacker Frank LeMasterreminiscent of last years domination over the Dallas Cowboys to win the NFC East. It was a day where the Eagles offense and defense came together as a team and Coach Reid and defensive coordinator Sean McDermott were flawless in their game strategy and play calling.

It seems like every week the Eagles are adding to their list of offensive and defensive playmakers such as Leonard Weaver FB, McCoy RB, Avant WR and Celek on offense.  And, Akeem Jordon LB, Sean Jones, DB, and Quintin Mikell SS on the other side of the ball. Veterans such as Donavon McNabb, DeSean Jackson, and Jeremy Maclin continued to have very productive games. The emergence of Weaver in the running game and Celek in the passing game will keep opposing defensive coaches up late at night trying to defend against McNabb & Company.

The Cowboys Ride Into Town

The Dallas Cowboys are for real this year as they come to “The Link”  coming off 3 straight wins and tying the 5-2 Eagles for the NFC East lead. Tony Romo seems to have reinvented himself this year shedding all of the distractions that plagued him last year. The Cowboys wide receivers Miles Austin, Troy Williams and Sam Hurd are having  great seasons accompanied by hard running Marion Barber who deserves a lot of attention by the Eagles defense. The Cowboys have a solid defense which has been very good about creating turnovers and have had 17 sacks in the last 18 quarters.

Look for this to be a close game going into the second half where the Eagles' many offensive weapons will start to rack up points. Our defense has been very consistent the entire season, leading the league in turnovers, which should help them keep D’boys under 14 points. Brian Westbrook will dress for the game but I doubt he will see playing time as he continues to recover from his concussion.
