Sixers Off-Season Ramblings

"Bookmark

First and foremost I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer. Over the past couple weeks during the Sixers off-season, there have been a couple things I’ve been wanting to get off my chest.

ANDRE MILLER: DOES HE STAY OR DOES HE GO?

As much as I would like to see Miller stay here in Philly to contribute to this team and hand down his veteran wisdom to Jrue Holiday and Marreese Speights, age is creeping up on him. The chances of Miller getting big money as well as a championship here in Philly is highly unlikely. 30 million over the next 3 years just isn’t gonna fly with Eddie boy (Stefanski that is). With that said, good luck Dre. I wish you nothing but the best of luck where ever you end up.

WHY NO ONE WANTS SAMMY

I’ve been talking to people about this Sammy Dalembert problem for a while now. Here’s a pretty good analogy that sums it all up: Say your car just broke down on you and you have no idea how you are going to get around. Your friend calls you up that heard about your issue and says to you “ I got my old car you could buy, but I warn you it only gets 25-miles to the gallon, leaks air in one of the tires and doesn’t start in the rain.” You’d probably say “ I’d rather walk than buy that hunk of crap off you” and you’d hang up. Right?  Well, that’s pretty much how the conversation went between the Sixers and the Rockets. In case you missed it, Houston, who recently suffered the lose of Yao Ming for potentially the ENTIRE 2009-10 season, would rather play with no true center than trading for Dalembert.

IS LA “THE ANSWER?”

Allen Iverson is reportedly talking to the LA Clippers. I think that’s the perfect place for him. He can go to the Clippers, spread his disease of selfishness around until it rots out the core of the team. NO ONE WILL CARE. NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE CLIPPERS! They should go to another city. As long as they’re the redheaded step child to the Lakers, no one will pay attention to them. So why not add another player that no one really cares about anymore. Sad, but true.

NEW SIXERS DANCERS DEBUT

Now here is a team that always puts up wins in my book. Check out the new lineup of Sixers Dancers at http://www.nba.com/sixers/dance/about.html.

THE BUNNY NEEDS TO GO

With the old retro logo back in full effect, I think its only fitting that we say goodbye to our furry friend, Hip Hop. Really, where the hell did he come from? A giant bunny walking around the arena trying to put people in headlocks and shooting shirts from a launcher isn’t really tying in with the new/old look of the Sixers. Hip Hop needs to go the way of the late 90’s logo along with the black uniforms and follow Alice down that hole in Wonderland.
