The Morning After: Eagles Strike Gold Against The 49ers

"Bookmark

Good morning campers,

A late night all around as the Phils of course were playing the same time as the Birds.

Make no mistake about it kids… we witnessed two very different organizations last night. One playing at peak, optimal levels clicking on all cylinders with all players contributing as they continue to solidify themselves as one of the best franchises in all of sports… and on the other hand you had the Eagles.

An abbreviated TMA as my fingers hurt from all the channel hopping… not sure how much I can type at this late hour… or is it early?

APRIL SHOWERS…

Opening kickoff returned to midfield by the Niners, which led to a touchdown. Not sure what else to say other this is getting ridiculous.

Of course following the aforementioned Niners' score the - Eagles brought the ensuing kickoff all the way out to the… 25 yard line! Way to go!

In the second half it was more of the same particularly the return the Eagles Special Teams allowed following the Eagles field goal which put them up 10, albeit briefly as once again a good return led directly to a touchdown by the opponent.

YOU CAN CALL ME AL…

According to Al Michaels Eagles FB Leonard Weaver was hurt before the season started.

According to the rest of the world, Eagles FB Leonard Weaver was hurt in the first game of the season.

HOLY MOISES…

Moises Fokou had himself quite the game starting in place of Akeem Jordan. Didn’t separate any red seas but he sure as hell separated Frank Gore from the ball in the first half.

CAN A SISTER GET A SRCUNCHY?…

Did you catch sidelines reporter Andrea Kremer early in the 3Q? I know it’s windy in Frisco but c’mon… you don’t have a scrunchy or no one has a rubber band; something to keep those flowing locks of yours from making you look like Cousin It?

And just wondering… can Andrea Kremer say anything without smiling the whole time?

USE ONLY IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY…

At one point the camera showed Eagles OL Jason Peters on the sideline, presumably injured. The report was he could come back in the event of an emergency.

You want an emergency? I give King Dunlap as Exhibit A.

GO WEST…

You know when you see players who once played for your team wearing another team’s uniform… looks odd right?

Well last night Brian Westbrook looked small in that Niners uniform… at least to me he did.

PAGING ADAM EATON…

Flipping channels I go back to the Phils and I see Danys Baez spraying champagne, celebrating the Phils win.

Did anyone else’s stomach turn over in seeing this?

THE BOTTOM LINE…

Two extremely average NFL teams played last night. And the worser (yes, I said worser) of the two lost. No one won this game… someone lost it. And that was the Niners… and it was almost the Eagles.

And if LeSean McCoy had his way, it would have been the Eagles.

I said 9-7, 8-8 before the season and I see no reason to change my thinking at this point… We could even see 7-9 and it would not surprise me in the least.

Til next time and as always...
