The Morning After - Eagles Outlast the Cowboys

"Bookmark

Morning campers,

Enough already with these damn night games, huh?image

Let's get to getting...

GETTING YOUR MONEY'S WORTH...
Have to lead off with my two cents re: Jayson Werth. He will be 32 in May. He has never knocked in 100 runs. He's made one All Star game. And God love him.

God love you, Jayson because there ain't a soul on the planet who wouldn't jump at that kind of money the Nationals threw your way. I love hearing the nitwits call the local sports stations saying they were going to boo him when he comes to town because he "went for the money."

Like they would have done anything different. Give me a break.

So I wish Jasyon Werth all the best, except when he plays the Fightins of course.

As for what the Nationals were thinking... I honestly do not know. If they think he will sell tickets by himself... well, good luck with that.

TALE OF TWO HALVES...FIRST HALF

*You would think teams would be on the lookout for the first play of the game by the Eagles Offense, wouldn't you? Maybe send the safety on DeSean Jackson's side extra deep

*The not-called hit by Anthony Spencer on Michael Vick notwithstanding, not only is the league not protecting (Vick) but neither are the Eagles. Yes, the league clearly needs to answer why they are not protecting Vick as they are other star QBs but how can a former offensive lineman (Reid) answer for not having a better line, regardless of who's playing QB.

*How about Todd Herremans? Can't block so maybe he'll make a nice tight end. Ok, that was a cheap shot, he's not THAT bad, at least when compared to the rest of the line.

*The lone Cowboys 1st Half TD came as a direct result of TWO Eagles penalties. Yes, two... ridiculous.

BRING THE ROOF DOWN...
As you probably heard, the Giants/Vikings game was postponed yesterday because the roof of the Metrodome collapsed due to heavy snow. If you haven't seen the video, check out this incredible footage.

TALE OF TWO HALVES...SECOND HALF

*Big thank you card from all the Cowboys goes to Jeremy Maclin for not only not catching a pass right in his hands BUT tipping it so it could be picked off. Two plays later the Boys are in the end zone. Thanks Jeremy!

*Did I just see what I think I saw? Following an Eagles score (a field goal following yet another failed Red Zone possession), the Eagles kick coverage actually made a very solid play, keeping the Cowboys's returner inside the 10. Somebody pinch me...

*Anyone who has ever played any kind of organized sport is taught from Day One to never blame the officials but Holy Moses were there some, ahem, questionable calls made and NOT made by the Zebras in BOTH halves.

*Great, DeSean Jackson scores an incredible 91-yard catch and run touchdown! And then the jackass (yeah I went there) once again had to act the fool and get flagged for a penalty for excessive celebration.

*Dmitiri Patterson redeemed himself big time for his previous infractions by picking off a Jon Kitna pass following the aforementioned Jackson TD

*Clearly the Eagles offensive line got tired of dolts like me coming down on them because they markedly improved their play in the second half; especially in their run-blocking

DOWN THE DIAL...
Instead of the Eagles/Cowboys game, you could have been watching back to back showings of Christmas Cupid on the Family Channel. Starring Chad Michael Murrary and Christina Milian it's about...

"Sloan is beautiful, stylish, and on the fast track to success at her public relations firm. After her client Caitlin ends up in a coma and becomes her own personal ghost of Christmas past, present, and future; she finds out first hand that her unethical ways needs to change and reuniting with a past jilted lover may be the answer." The now-cancelled "Hasselhoffs." Photo: http://www.aetv.com/the-hasselhoffs/images/photos/the-family/hasselhoff-family-at-home.jpg

On a completely, unrelated note, A&E cancelled The Hasselhoffs after two episodes. Yes, two... ridiculous.

THE BOTTOM LINE...
Hard-fought win for sure. Forget the records when these teams play, any win over Dallas is a good one. As previously mentioned the Eagles' offensive line upped their game in the second half and it showed - leading directly to the Eagles winning the game.

Of course the REALLY big game is still to come.

Til next time and as always...

Time's yours. Food's mine.
