Philly2Philly.com Gridiron NFL Picks Week 17: Eagles Cowboys an Afterthought After Michael Vick Comments by President Obama and Tucker Carlson

Last week I led the way with 11 wins. This week was one crazy week involving the Philadelphia Eagles. Never have I ever witnessed this level of national media attention involving our team (in the span of a week) because of comments made by people who aren't even on the team.

First we had Governor Ed Rendell's infamous rant about how we are a nation of wusses because the Eagles-Vikings game was moved from Sunday night to Tuesday night.

The Eagles then took on the Vikings in the first Tuesday night NFL game in over 60 years and had their worst game of the season by far and got embarrassed in a 24-14 loss to the Vikings and really it wasn't that close. Michael Vick reverted back to his Atlanta days and the offensive line was....well offensive. The defense didn't fair much better.

And, then we have President Obama calling Jeffrey Lurie and thanking him for giving Michael Vick a second chance.

This in turn prompted Tucker Carlson to make an incendiary remark on Fox News the other night, saying that Michael Vick should have been executed. Can't we leave well enough alone at this point? He served his time and has been out of jail for a year and a half.

The Eagles - Cowboys game this Sunday is a mere afterthought in lieu of the national media attention. Added to that, the game means nothing to the Eagles now that they cannot get a #1 or #2 seed. And, the Cowboys have been caput since October.

The biggest game this week with potential playoff implications will be on Sunday night between Seattle and St. Louis. Our panel is picking the Rams to win the NFC West Sunday night.

Now here are the rest of our Week 17 NFL Picks:
