Evan Turner most likely the Sixers prize with 2nd Pick in NBA Draft

WOW! What a time to be a sports fan in Philadelphia."In the Paint" logo by Matt Schetter.

Jimmy Rollins returns to the Phillies lineup, the Flyers shock the world and make history in the post season, and the 76ers are awarded the second overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft!  I'm a firm believer of good things coming in threes, and the Sixers were able to contribute to the energy that is streaking through this city.

The Sixers desperately needed something to go their way after having a season of total disappointment and frustration. They become the second team in a row to come away with the second pick when they were slated to have the sixth slot. "We are fortunate that the ping-pong balls bounced our way tonight, and to move up to the second overall pick in a draft that features several impact players will provide us even more options as we move through the off-season to improve our team," said Sixers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski.

One big option that is standing out in everyone's mind is Ohio State's star guard, Evan Turner. Though some question how his scoring ability will translate in the NBA, his basketball IQ and offensive skill set will make good company along side Thaddeus Young, Jrue Holiday and Andre Iguodala. Turner could bring a consistent outside threat to this ball club which it so desperately needs. With rumors circulating that Doug Collins could become the newest Sixers coach, it looks like this franchise could finally be heading in a positive direction for the first time in years.

Mark it down on your calendar, Thursday, June 24, 2010 could bring the missing piece of the puzzle to the Sixers offense. Hey Evan, I hope you like cheesesteaks because Philly is ready for you!

Sixers fans, I know you're out there! We finally have something to be excited about. Let's enjoy the moment and hope we're swinging our rally towels again next season!
