NFL Power Rankings Week 16: Did the Patriots dethrone the Packers for the top spot?

"Bookmark

Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. And the reason I know? The Packers lost and the Eagles are still somehow still alive for the playoffs.

Seven, count 'em seven teams from last week's Top 10 lost. Wow...Tom Brady photo: technorati.com

Let's get to getting. Last week's power ranking in parentheses...

1. Patriots (2) - Thought long and hard about leaving the Packers at #1.

2. Packers (1) - Losing to the Chiefs is the best thing that could happen to them.

3. Saints (3) - Huge game this week vs. the Falcons; HUGE.

4. Niners (10) - Major jump from #10 to #4 but that's what happens when a) you beat a good team (Steelers) and b) all other teams ahead of you lose.

5. Lions (N/A) - Again this is what happens when so many teams lose; but the Lions deserve to be here especially with Suh back and especially IF they beat the Bolts this week.

6. Falcons (N/A) - 4-1 in their last 5; did I mention the HUGE game this week vs. the Saints?

7. Steelers (4) - Short week this week for the Steelers which means Big Ben may not be Big Ben again; not good.

8. Ravens (6) - I know the Texans were ahead of the Ravens last week and both teams lost but the Texans lost to a bad Panthers team while the Ravens lost to the surging Chargers.

9. Texans (5) - Can the Colts win two games in a row? Highly unlikely...

10. Seahawks - (N/A) - I know I referred to them as the "She-Hawks" earlier in the year but they are 4-1 in their last five and if they beat the Niners this week, which I think they might as the Niners may have a letdown from last week's win over the Steelers...
