Flyers flat in Game 2 as Devils tie series

Throughout the first three minutes of Tuesday night’s game, the Philadelphia Flyers looked like they were well on their way to taking a 2-0 series lead over the New Jersey Devils in the second round of the NHL Playoffs.Photo: Saed Hindash/The Star-Ledger
So much for that.
The rest of the game was a subpar effort from the orange and black, resulting in four third period Devils’ goals for a 4-1 loss. Despite playing without injured star Ilya Kovalchuk, the Devils rebounded nicely from their overtime loss in Game 1. The series is now tied 1-1 as the series shifts to New Jersey for Game 3 Thursday night.

The Devils never allowed the Flyers to get into a rhythm offensively, even outshooting them in the second period 12-2. Now everyone knows of my undying hatred for the Devils. On paper, the Flyers are a better team, but I really hope New Jersey hasn’t stumbled upon a game plan how to expose the Flyers.

Has the momentum shifted in the series? We’ll find out Thursday night. In the meantime, check out Game 2’s recap on our partnering site Buzz On Broad.
