Phillies Tug McGraw Jersey: Throwback Thursday Jersey of the Week!

Before Brad Lidge dropped to his knees on October 29th, 2008 after the Phillies had won their second World Series championship against the Rays, Tug McGraw jumped off the pitcher’s mound after striking out the Royals’ Willie Wilson for the Phillies first ever World Championship in 1980.

McGraw pitched his last game in the majors in 1984 and sadly succumbed to cancer in 2004. But to this day, the Tugger remains one of the most beloved Phillies ever to wear the pinstripes (or in this case, powder blue!).

If you are out and about and see a throwback jersey that you feel should be featured on Throwback Thursdays, submit a throwback jersey picture to sports@philly2philly.com  Your name, and the name of the person wearing the jersey is optional, but some people like to see that stuff!
